I have an individual exhibition in Gallery Jangva in 6.6 – 24.6. 2012. Gallery Jangva is in Uudenmaankatu 4-6, (courtyard) in Helsinki
On June 6th 2012, Laura Kansanen-Stavalen’s exhibition opens at Gallery Jangva. Exhibition viewers will see an angel inspired collection of work. As an artist, Kansanen-Stavale is interested in combining different mediums and starting points. The final products are manipulated photographs, that reflect the artist’s previous experience in interpreting the world through painting. She combines different elements though layering. The art works in the exhibition, form a series of fictitious angel sightings, found and forgotten angel wings.
The works walk the line between truth or lie, fact or fiction. By intertwining the imaginary and real world, the story and truth to childhood memories, Laura Kansanen–Stavale preserves flashes of moments, using photography. The works are images that both reveal and conceal. A fairytale like reality or reality like a fairytale – the artist wants to leave the door open to interpretation even where values are concerned.
